Lip augmentation/Lips Lines
- Tissue fillers
Soft tissue fillers can be used to subtly enhance the volume of the lip or to smooth out unwanted lip lines. Lip augmentation is a simple and quick procedure that provides immediate results. As we age, the wrinkles of the upper and lower lip may cause lipstick to bleed into the lip lines, and adding some tissue filler to smooth out these areas may be helpful. There are a variety of tissue fillers that we use in the lips, including Juvéderm Ultra, Juvéderm Ultra Plus, Juvéderm Voluma, Evolence Breeze and Restylane. Dr. Carruthers will help you to choose which tissue filler is right for you and your lips.

- Skin Tightening
The upper lip is like a curtain in a theatre. As we age, the curtain becomes more lax, and vertical lines may become more apparent. Using skin tightening techniques, from the non-invasive Thermage Radiofrequency system or the deeper Ultrapulse Encore fractionated laser resurfacing treatment (DeepFx), may create a smoother, younger appearance to the upper lip and the surrounding skin. Dr. Carruthers can help you decide which treatment suits your needs best.

Cheek Augmentation
- Tissue Fillers
Not many of us think of our cheeks as a problem area. However, because the cheeks comprise a large portion of our facial volume, it can affect many areas. As we age, the volume in our cheeks begins to deplete and as this occurs, the nasolabial folds are deepened, the jaw line softens and can become jowly, and the apple of the cheeks look deflated. Using tissue fillers to revolumize the cheeks will not only volumize the cheeks themselves, but will have positive effects on the surrounding structures like the nasolabial folds and the jaw. There are several different tissue fillers that can be used in the cheeks for augmentation including Juvéderm Voluma and Radiesse. The cheeks are often treated in conjuction with other areas of the lower face for facial rejuvenation.

Pigmentation
Our cheeks will often show signs of sun damage. Pigmentation such as brown spots (lentigos), redness, or broken blood vessels (telangiectasias) are commonly found on the skin of our cheeks and are a bother to many people. Treating this extra pigmentation can create a clearer complexion and decrease the need to wear makeup. Both men and women will benefit from treatments that address pigmentation, redness, or vessels. Some of the treatments are done with little to no downtime (IPL), while others may give stronger results in fewer treatments, but will require some downtime (Ultrapulse Encore—Active FX). Come in for a consultation to see which treatments are right for you and your skin.

Acne
Acne is a problem that not only affects teenagers. Adult acne is a problem that is common and can be quite bothersome. Not only is acne a problem, but the scarring that can result from those that suffered acne in their younger years can affect skin texture many years after the acne has resolved. Whether you need to treat acne now, or you would like to try to treat the scars that past acne has left behind, we can suggest treatments for both issues.

Eyes
Do people ever ask if you are tired, but you’ve had a full night’s sleep? The eyes are the focal point of the face, and as time goes on, they begin to show signs of aging such as wrinkles, sagging, hooding, and bagging. When we are communicating with others, they look at our eyes. The eyes speak through expression and are a very integral part of the way we communicate. Many feel that because the eyes are such an important part of the human body, it is often their area of greatest concern when the signs of aging start to affect their eyes. The upper eyelids tend to be affected by skin laxity and the lower eyelids are usually affected by both skin laxity and volume loss. The outer corners of the eyes may be affected by crow’s feet as well. Skin tightening techniques such as the non-invasive Thermage is a way to gently tighten the skin of the upper and lower eyelids. If more tightening is needed, the DeepFX fractional laser can be used, or the ultimate treatment, the eyelift (aesthetic blepharoplasty) can be done in office. Tissue fillers can be used to fill in the hollows of the lower eyelid to smooth the appearance of bags and decrease the look of dark circles and Botox Cosmetic can be used to treat and relax the muscles that cause crow’s feet. Another new treatment on the horizon is Latisse for eyelash lengthening and thickening. Come in to discuss your treatment options of this very important area.
